Fukushima in 2013 - Part 2

Many beaches are still closed in Fukushima. This one at Yotsukura (四倉) just re-opened in the summer of 2013. However, I saw only a handful of people and surfers. Because of the earthquake, some of the land sunk, creating pools of standing water on the beaches. There is a lot of construction work going on, and tsunami debris still around.

Fukushima in 2013 - Part 1

Just returned from a trip to Fukushima. I have been there every year since 2011. I visit friends to see how they are doing. I wanted to see the realities of life - both the difficulties and the happiness. The tourist numbers are still low and there are still problems. Despite what we read in the media, and the impressions that we have, I encourage people to visit and see for themselves.
